Election 2008

Last Tuesday (Election Day!), Eli was elected by his classmates to serve on the student council at his school. Eli didn't tell us he was running for student council until the night before the election (after he had given his speech). He shared his speech with us. Here's what he said:

Hi, I'm Eli Jackson and I'm running for student council. Most of you know me but if not, that's who I am. I promise to make the meetings and be on time. I promise to tell you what we are planning to do. I will make a lot of fun ideas. I will try to make it fun for all of us. I know that you are all good students. I promise I will be good in student council. Thank you.

He's a good kid.

Bryant's Christmas Letter

Bryant (age 3) wrote a letter to Santa the other day, except he wanted to write to Rudolph instead. Here's the letter he dictated to Misti:

To Rudolph,

Please have Santa bring me, Bryant, these presents:

- Please bring a [sic] orange race car
- Please bring a little blue truck
- Bring a race track for my orange car

When Bryant found out how long it will be until Christmas, he wanted Misti to write the following note instead:

Grandpa, please bring all the toys for Bryant.

Spelling Champion

Hukd on Foniks Wurkd for Me!

Joy - who so far has scored 100% on almost every spelling test in first grade - decided to make a list of all the animals she could think of. We thought we'd share the list. You can click on the picture above for a larger view.

Let us know what your favorites are (or if you need any help with the translation). And enjoy this clip of Brian Regan.

I (Chris) think my favorites are "draf", "wiyold snac", "yack" and "crokadiyol".

Joy's New Glasses!

Joy went to the optometrist today for an eye exam (she was having a hard time reading the board at school). She chose some nice frames all by herself and also chose a matching case to carry her glasses in. She likes her new glasses a lot. I (Chris) asked if she could see more clearly with them on and she said "yes". She also described her newfound vision by saying that "things look smaller with my glasses on" and "when I close my eyes with my glasses on it looks blacker".
